Steel Fixer – Construction Reinforcement Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Steel Fixer to join the Foundations TL team on the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone transmission project. The role involves installing and securing steel reinforcement for concrete foundations that will support a new 4.5 GW transmission network across New South Wales.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, bar‑bending schedules and structural specifications.
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the required shapes and sizes.
• Place and secure steel reinforcement for foundations, footings, slabs and other structural elements.
• Install rebar, mesh, couplers and related reinforcement systems in line with project requirements.
• Verify correct positioning, spacing, cover and alignment before concrete pours.
• Collaborate with formwork carpenters, concreters, supervisors and engineers to ensure high‑quality work.
• Maintain compliance with all site safety procedures and quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a steel fixer on large‑scale construction projects.
• Ability to work a 14‑day on / 7‑day off roster and travel to the Mudgee site as required.
• Willingness to arrange personal transport if not covered by provided bus service.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards on site.

Required skills

• Reading engineering drawings and bar‑bending schedules.
• Cutting, bending and tying reinforcing steel (reo).
• Installing rebar, mesh and couplers.
• Ensuring correct reinforcement cover, spacing and alignment.
