Staff Specialist – General Medicine (Regional NSW Hospital)

About the role

The hospital is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist in General Medicine to join a busy, diverse inpatient service. You will provide senior clinical leadership, teaching, and specialist care within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist-level inpatient care in General and Acute Medicine.
• Participate in after‑hours and on‑call rosters as required.
• Support safe patient flow, bed management and transfers of care.
• Run outpatient clinics and provide internal consult services.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentorship and teaching to registrars, junior doctors, nursing and allied health teams.
• Contribute to quality improvement, research and service development activities.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General & Acute Care Medicine.
• AHPRA Specialist Registration (unrestricted).
• Strong experience in general medicine and acute inpatient care.
• Commitment to outreach models of care for rural and regional communities.
• Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership and enthusiasm for teaching.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centred approach.
