Staff Specialist – General Medicine & Infectious Diseases (0.5 FTE each)

About the role

This permanent position offers a unique split between General Medicine and Infectious Diseases (0.5 FTE each) within a modern regional hospital in the Hunter New England network. The role combines acute inpatient care with subspecialty expertise, supporting a multidisciplinary team and contributing to service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based specialist care for acute General Medicine patients.
• Deliver Infectious Diseases consultation and management across the hospital.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical governance.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Teach and supervise junior medical staff.

Required profile

• FRACP with Specialist Registration.
• Dual Fellowship in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases, or expected Fellowship in both specialties within six months.
• Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA.
