About the role
John Hunter Hospital is recruiting multiple Staff Specialists in General and Acute Medicine on a full‑time or part‑time basis. The role involves delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care across inpatient, consultative, ambulatory and acute settings while contributing to teaching, research and service development.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a diverse case mix across General and Acute Medicine, including participation in the Acute Medical Unit.
- Provide patient‑centred, evidence‑based care and contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development.
- Supervise and mentor medical students, junior doctors and physician trainees.
- Engage in research, innovation and translation of evidence into practice.
Required profile
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General Medicine or an appropriate subspecialty.
- Specialist registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with AHPRA.
- Strong commitment to teaching, multidisciplinary care and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
