Staff Software Engineer – Automation & Build Systems (Sydney)

About the role

Riot Games is building a highly anticipated MMO and needs a Staff Software Engineer to lead automation and build systems for the unpublished R&D product. Based in Sydney, you will work with a small, cross‑disciplinary team to create reliable, high‑performance development pipelines that enable rapid delivery of new content.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement large‑scale automation and build tooling across a distributed server network.
• Lead architecture, technical design, and implementation to ensure system stability and scalability.
• Collaborate with technical leadership in Sydney and Los Angeles and with design teams to deliver high‑performance solutions.
• Promote best practices, mentor engineers, and share expertise in automation and build systems.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, troubleshoot live‑service issues, and support content creation, stability, and testing pipelines.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to drive technical initiatives and influence architectural direction.
• Strong communication skills for cross‑timezone collaboration.
• Passion for gaming and delivering dependable player experiences.
