Staff Frontend Engineer – Editing Performance

About the role
Join Canva’s Editing Performance team to rebuild core parts of the editor, ensuring fast, smooth and reliable experiences across devices and networks. You will work primarily in TypeScript and collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to deliver high‑impact performance improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy software solutions for Canva’s editor, focusing on performance at scale.
- Drive measurable performance improvements using data, instrumentation and dashboards.
- Build tools, frameworks and libraries that enable other engineers to create performant features.
- Own complex technical problems, break them into deliverable pieces and see them through to production.
Required profile
- Strong commercial software engineering experience with large‑scale applications, SDKs or APIs.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and ability to navigate large, long‑lived codebases.
- Experience interpreting performance data and prioritising work based on evidence.
- Solid computer science fundamentals including asynchronous programming and data structures.
