Staff Front End Engineer – Mobile Platform

About the role

Canva is building a Portable Platform that lets engineers write React code once and run it on web, iOS and Android. As a Staff Front End Engineer you will own the architecture layer that abstracts runtime concerns, enabling seamless cross‑platform development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship the frontend architecture that unifies React Web and React Native.
• Lead the migration from a pure React Web codebase to a combined Web + Native solution.
• Implement web versions of shared Portable Platform components.
• Support the upskilling of 600+ frontend engineers through standards, documentation and design reviews.
• Ensure runtime concerns stay in the platform layer, not in product code.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing large‑scale frontend architectures.
• Deep understanding of React and its ecosystem.
• Track record of leading complex migration projects.
• Ability to mentor and guide a large engineering organization.
