About the role

Vinery Stud, a leading thoroughbred nursery in the Upper Hunter Valley, is seeking an experienced horse person to join its team as Spelling Farm Assistant. Working closely with the Spelling Farm Manager, you will help run the daily operations of the spelling farm, caring for young thoroughbreds and spelling horses while maintaining the high standards of horse welfare and presentation the stud is known for.

Key responsibilities

Assist with the daily management of the spelling farm
Oversee the care and handling of young stock and spelling horses
Monitor horse health and wellbeing
Coordinate feeding, treatments and general horse care
Liaise with veterinarians, farriers and other service providers
Maintain accurate horse records
Support the Spelling Farm Manager and oversee operations in their absence

Required profile

Extensive experience with thoroughbred horses, particularly young stock
Ability to work independently and confidently manage daily operations when required
A current driver's licence
