Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer (IT Support to Schools)

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role can be contract, casual or permanent and offers a salary of $90,000‑$110,000 pro‑rata.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, server environments and cloud services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
• Deploy and manage virtualisation (Hyper‑V), mobile device management and enterprise networking (Cisco, HP).
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments and deliver professional development to staff.
• Plan, deploy and manage 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience in education, TSSP or comparable corporate environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa) with a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.
