Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School IT Support

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing and maintaining ICT infrastructure across multiple school sites, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development where required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, server environments and cloud services (Google Workspace & Microsoft 365).
• Deploy and manage Mobile Device Management solutions and oversee 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.
• Provide advanced enterprise networking support, including Cisco and HP switching and Cisco wireless technologies.
• Perform SOE and image deployment, troubleshoot hardware and software issues for large fleets of desktops and notebooks.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience in education, TSSP, or comparable corporate environments.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa) and a current driver’s licence.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Cloud service administration – Google Workspace & Microsoft 365.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco & HP switching.
• Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks and BYOD devices.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000‑$110,000 AUD pro‑rata, top rates based on experience.
