Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School ICT Support

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced IT professionals to deliver technical support to Victorian schools through the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The successful specialist will manage and maintain school ICT infrastructure, supporting both staff and students in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and Windows/Linux server environments.
• Provide ICT support services in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience (TSSP, education sector, or equivalent corporate environment).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks and 1:1/BYOD device planning.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000–$110,000 AUD (pro‑rata), top rates based on skills and experience.
