Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools (Victoria)

About the role

Bytewize is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician to deliver Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP) services for Victorian schools. The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and administering complex enterprise environments across the Department of Education.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience, preferably within the TSSP program, the education sector, or equivalent corporate support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle, and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Cloud service administration (Google Workspace & Microsoft 365).
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching).
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning, deployment and management.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 AUD pro‑rata, with top rates based on skills and experience.
