Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to deliver technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing complex ICT environments and providing high‑quality support to staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support services in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience, preferably within TSSP, the education sector, or senior corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation, and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching).
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning, deployment and management.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
