Specialist Servers and Storage

About the role

We are looking for a Servers and Storage Specialist to support and evolve critical OT compute and storage environments that underpin Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s operations. This hands‑on infrastructure engineer will own essential systems and drive automation and modernisation initiatives within a complex operational setting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support on‑premises OT compute and storage platforms across multiple operational sites.
• Support VMware and Microsoft Active Directory environments, ensuring stability, performance, and adherence to standards.
• Own and manage existing custom scripts, assessing, maintaining, refactoring, and improving resilience.
• Provide lifecycle support for operational tools, including secure file transfer platforms and asset discovery/reporting tools.
• Drive automation opportunities, identifying efficiency gains and introducing tools such as Ansible or similar.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects with technical input, implementation, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Required profile

• Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in production‑critical environments.
• Experience managing or supporting scripting solutions (PowerShell, VB, or similar).
• Experience working with secure file transfer platforms (e.g., Go Anywhere or similar).
• Mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
