Specialist Project Delivery - Rail Safety & Performance

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for an experienced Specialist Project Delivery professional to join its Rail Safety & Performance team at the Perth Operations Centre, working a 5/2 roster. The initial assignment is 12 months via Chandler Macleod, with a possibility of extension. You will lead end-to-end delivery of several key projects and studies supporting all Rail teams, engaging a wide range of stakeholders to meet safety, schedule, budget and quality objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of rail safety, productivity and performance improvement projects
• Manage project controls including scope, schedule, budget, risk and contractor performance
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams through studies, business case development, testing, deployment and handover
• Engage stakeholders across Rail Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safeworking, Safety, Change and IS&T teams
• Prepare project reports, presentations and recommendations for business leaders
• Support ad-hoc priorities to help manage the Rail Safety and Performance function

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in project, program or portfolio management
• Experience in business performance improvement and business case development
• Commercial acumen and ability to manage competing stakeholder requirements
• Experience facilitating workshops and delivering professional reports and presentations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex operational environment
• Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
• Prior rail, mining, heavy industry or operational project delivery experience is highly regarded but not essential
