Sous Chef - The Wharf Restaurant & Bar

About the role

The Wharf Restaurant & Bar is an iconic waterfront venue in Sydney, near the Sydney Theatre Company in Walsh Bay, with space for around 200 guests and a gastro-pub style and grazing menu. It is looking for a full-time Sous Chef to join its kitchen team and help shape the food offering.

Key responsibilities

• Create beautifully presented, consistent dishes for restaurant and event service
• Work closely with the Head Chef and Executive Chef to grow your skills
• Support the Head Chef with cost control and kitchen operations
• Lead, motivate and mentor a small kitchen team to deliver fast, high-quality service
• Manage the kitchen when the Head Chef is away
• Maintain top-tier food safety standards

Required profile

• Commercial cookery qualifications
• Experience in a fast-paced bar or restaurant, with pre-theatre or similar environment
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Passion for learning, experimenting and evolving as a chef
• Full working rights in Australia and availability for full-time hours
