Solutions Architect - Splunk

About the role

Cisco is hiring a Splunk Solutions Architect to join its Splunk Cloud Sizing, Architecture & Governance (SAG) team. The team decides how customer workloads map to infrastructure: the sizing tools used by the field, certification and capacity work for new instance types, and the sizing logic behind new pricing models. It spans tooling, SRE and solutions architecture, with teammates in Australia, the US and the UK.

You will help shape sizing architecture: the frameworks, rule-sets and tooling that determine how customer workloads map to infrastructure, so that sizing problems never reach the customer. You may occasionally support high-visibility escalations, but your main impact is upstream in solutions architecture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years, or Master's/PhD plus 2 years, of related experience
• Able to join an on-call rotation covering customer escalations outside business hours
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to explain root cause and remediation to engineers and customers

Required skills

• Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) and Splunk platform architecture, including indexing, search and distributed deployments
• Production-level proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python preferred), enough to build and debug diagnostic tooling
• Working knowledge of networking, OS internals and storage/data pipelines, enough to root-cause issues across infrastructure layers

Preferred: experience with infrastructure capacity or sizing modelling, exposure to cloud instance sizing (AWS/GCP/Azure), and experience on a distributed, async team across time zones.
