Software Engineer – Radar Applications

About the role

Silentium Defence is expanding its Radar Applications team and is looking for a Software Engineer to develop and improve internal tools, radar‑based applications, APIs and automation in a Linux environment. You will work across C++ and Python to deliver reliable solutions that support production, research, field trials and day‑to‑day engineering operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain C++, Python and Linux‑based services, tools and radar applications.
• Create and integrate APIs and automation to support production and research workflows.
• Ensure software quality through testing, documentation and code reviews.
• Collaborate with research, production, project and field‑trial teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in technical decisions, architecture discussions and delivery planning.
• Improve internal tooling, workflows and engineering efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and support internal systems to maintain reliability and uptime.
• Take part in field trials to perform real‑world testing and knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain an AGSVA NV1 security clearance and meet ITAR requirements.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and comfort working with ambiguity.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
