Software Engineer – Machine Learning

About the role

Join REA Group’s Data Science & Analytics team to design, build and deploy AI and machine learning products that shape how Australians experience property. This permanent position is based in Sydney and works in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test and deploy machine‑learning pipelines using Python, SQL, IaC, AWS and GCP.
• Build innovative AI products leveraging Generative AI, large language models and traditional ML techniques.
• Prototype proofs of concept and evaluate feasibility with senior engineers.
• Support data processes, create automated dashboards and self‑service reporting tools.
• Analyse data coverage and quality across internal and external data sets.
• Follow agile practices such as test‑driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming.
• Own operational aspects of software under a “you build it; you run it” philosophy.

Required profile

• Strong programming ability in Python, SQL or similar languages.
• Passion for machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, time‑series analysis and software development.
• Experience with the full ML model lifecycle and hosting libraries.
• Ability to clean, analyse and interpret large data sets.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Effective communication and collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
