Software Engineer - Backend & Supplier Integrations

About the role

Flight Centre Travel Group is hiring a Software Engineer in South Bank, Queensland, to help build the back-end systems that customers use every day. The role sits in the Integration Services pillar, focusing on supplier integrations and building robust backend systems that power the online booking engines. It suits someone with experience in agile software development and a deep understanding of good software engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Build efficient, testable and maintainable solutions without over-engineering them.
• Use agentic development as an enabler alongside your own work.
• Write backend code in TypeScript using the NestJS framework.
• Work with ElasticSearch, DynamoDB and S3.
• Improve code quality, technical debt, standards and processes, and own the quality of what is built through testing and observability.
• Maintain and improve documentation across code bases, architectures and knowledge bases.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Previous full-stack experience delivering end-to-end front-end and back-end experiences.
• Experience deploying real-world applications through continuous integration pipelines.
• Proven experience building high-traffic, reliable software in Node.js with measurable outputs.
• Experience in software testing, including unit, integration and contract testing.

Required skills

• Modern JavaScript, testing, debugging and automation.
• TypeScript, database solutions, observability, security and performance.
• NestJS and Node.js.
