Software Engineer – Backend & AI-Enabled Product Development

About the role

AuditCover is an Australian insurtech building technology for tax audit insurance distribution. We are looking for a Software Engineer who will own product‑focused backend development and integrate AI throughout the delivery cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Transform rough ideas into shipped production outcomes.
• Design, build, and improve backend systems, internal tools, integrations and customer‑facing features.
• Leverage AI for scoping, prototyping, coding, debugging and refinement.
• Automate manual workflows through better system design.
• Contribute to engineering pace, quality and technical direction.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with production releases.
• Regular use of AI tools in daily work.
• Product‑outcome mindset and ability to work from vague briefs.
• Strong sense of ownership and ambition to grow into technical leadership.
• Solid backend fundamentals, relational database knowledge and REST API experience.
