Software Engineer – 9‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Defence ICT team on a 9‑month maximum‑term contract, with the possibility of extension. You will work under senior engineers and architects to design, develop, integrate and deliver software components for mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software components aligned to system requirements and architecture.
• Support core services such as data processing, synchronisation and system functionality.
• Assist with system integration across software, infrastructure and networking components.
• Contribute to verification, validation, testing and defect resolution activities.
• Provide fault‑finding and remediation to ensure system quality.
• Maintain technical documentation and support transition of software into operational environments.

Required profile

• Foundational experience in software development (professional, academic or project‑based).
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python or C++.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and testing concepts.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV2 security clearance.
