Software Developer

About the role

Joss, a family-owned business founded in 1975 that delivers construction, facilities management and maintenance services across regional Australia, is looking for a motivated, solutions-focused Software Developer to join its growing team in Albury. The role is hands-on and lets you take ownership of software from initial requirements and design through implementation, production support and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain web applications using C#.NET, ASP.NET Core MVC and .NET Framework MVC.
• Build responsive web applications and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) with TypeScript, JavaScript and SASS/SCSS.
• Develop server-side services, RESTful APIs and integrations with internal business systems and third-party platforms.
• Create offline-capable solutions for field-based staff, including caching, service workers and data synchronisation.
• Follow secure coding practices aligned with Joss' ISO 27001-aligned information security policies.
• Take part in code reviews, testing, Git workflows and collaborative development.
• Resolve technical issues, support production systems and keep technical documentation clear.
• Help with technical scoping, project estimates and continuous improvement, and turn business requirements into practical solutions with stakeholders.

Required profile

• At least four years of commercial software development experience.
• Proactive, quality-focused developer who owns their work and communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Able to obtain a National Police Check, as required for work involving government clients.
• A relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field is highly regarded.

Required skills

• C#.NET and ASP.NET MVC; TypeScript, JavaScript and SASS/SCSS.
• RESTful APIs and front-end API integration; Git and branching/pull request workflows.
• Web security basics, including authentication, authorisation and the OWASP Top 10.
• An advantage: SQL Server, modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, DevExtreme), Azure, CI/CD pipelines, unit/integration testing frameworks (xUnit, NUnit, Jest, Playwright), identity platforms (Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect), AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) and field-service environments.
