Software Developer – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Software Developer for a 12‑month contract to support the Bureau of Meteorology’s geospatial initiatives. You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team that delivers mission‑critical software and cloud solutions for government and national security customers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and stakeholders to understand priorities and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test and deploy software components for geospatial and cloud‑based platforms.
• Apply modern engineering practices, shared infrastructure and automated pipelines to ensure rapid delivery.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
