Social Volunteer - South West Sydney

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity that supports people to live in their homes and maintain their independence, is looking for a caring Social Volunteer to visit a client in South West Sydney. The client enjoys keeping her mind active with crossword puzzles, reading books on a tablet, listening to music and playing carpet bowls, and would welcome the companionship of someone who enjoys a friendly chat and sharing interests. Visits last one hour each week.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client once a week for one hour, bringing friendship, connection and joy to her life.
• Share interests such as books, crossword puzzles, music and other hobbies during the visit.
• Provide regular companionship to help reduce isolation and improve the quality of life of an older person.

Required profile

• Aged 18 years or older.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for visits between 10am and 4pm on Monday or Wednesday; visits could be weekly depending on availability.
