Home Care Worker (Part-Time)

About the role

CareWays Community is seeking experienced Care Team members to provide in-home support to elderly clients in their own homes, helping them stay in their homes. The role reports to the Care Worker supervisor and covers domestic assistance, personal care, social support, shopping, respite and transport to appointments. Casual and permanent part-time positions are available, with hours that fit around study and life commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care tasks from the person-centred plan, supporting hygiene and independence at home
• Assist with household and environmental tasks prioritised in the person-centred plan
• Maintain accurate records and report changes in the consumer's needs
• Carry out domestic assistance such as cleaning regularly used areas, making beds and handling laundry
• Provide social support and monitoring to encourage family and community interaction
• Follow Work Health and Safety policies, attend team meetings and training, and complete reasonable duties as directed

Required profile

• Certificate III in Individual Support, aged care, community care or disability (first-year Bachelor of Nursing also suitable)
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Current first aid certificate and driver's licence with a reliable car fully insured
• Full working rights in Australia

Required skills

• Ability to prioritise time and organise work, and to work without direct supervision
• Basic administrative skills for timesheets, travel records and record keeping
• Confidentiality, empathy and effective communication with consumers
• Willingness to undertake further training

• Pay under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Home Care Employee Grade 3 ($36.23 per hour plus loading if applicable)
