Social Visitor Volunteer – Senior Care Home, Bossley Park

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is seeking friendly, compassionate volunteers to spend one-on-one time with elderly residents in a care home in Bossley Park. The scheme aims to reduce loneliness and build connections between older people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Visit elderly residents in the care home during working hours, Monday to Friday.
• Choose flexible times of 10am-12pm or 2pm-5pm, with each visit lasting 30 minutes to 1 hour.
• Share a gentle walk in the garden, play bingo, share coffee in the courtyard, have a warm chat, or simply sit together and be present.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• No special skills needed; kindness, patience and a listening ear are enough.
• Open to students, retirees, professionals and anyone with time to give.
