About the role
An older woman living independently in Fairlight is looking for a volunteer visitor who enjoys reading, discussing current events and talking politics. This is a one-on-one friendship role that brings joy to the client and helps reduce social isolation. HammondCare is an independent Christian charity that supports people to stay in their homes, and it runs the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government.
Key responsibilities
- Have relaxed chats and build a meaningful one-on-one friendship
- Discuss books, news, current affairs and politics
- Visit for one hour at a time, any day of the week between 9:00am and 5:00pm
- Volunteer weekly or fortnightly
Required profile
- 18 years or older
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
- Availability for a one-hour visit each week or fortnight, Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 5pm
