Social Visitor Volunteer – 100th Birthday Celebration

About the role

A woman in Pagewood is approaching her 100th birthday and is looking for a friendly visitor to share tea, stories and memories with her. She was born in Iran, speaks Farsi, Azari and English, and enjoys talking about family, recipes and the traditions she has kept through her life. Visits can include chatting over tea, reminiscing, discussing favourite recipes or preparing a simple meal together.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident weekly or fortnightly, for 30 minutes to 1 hour
• Chat, share stories and memories, and perhaps cook or prepare a simple meal together
• Visit any day of the week between 9:00am and 5:00pm

Required profile

• 18 years or older
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Willingness to commit for a minimum of 6 months
• Not suitable for work experience, student placements or practical placement requirements

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, which connects elderly people with volunteers in their local community. Interested people are contacted by phone or text, or by email if contact by phone is not possible.
