Social Media Manager – Full‑time

About the role

The Sydney Opera House is seeking a proactive Social Media Manager to lead the strategy, operations and performance of its social channels. In this hands‑on position you will shape how the iconic venue engages audiences, strengthens its brand and drives community growth across digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the Opera House’s brand and audience goals.
• Oversee day‑to‑day publishing, monitoring and community management across all platforms.
• Ensure governance, brand standards and crisis protocols are adhered to in all social communications.
• Analyse performance data, produce regular reports and translate insights into actionable improvements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate social content with broader marketing and programming initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience leading social media strategy and operations in a business or agency setting.
• Demonstrated ability to grow engaged communities and maintain a consistent brand voice.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of turning metrics into measurable ROI.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities, including crisis management experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).
• Experience using social media analytics and reporting tools.
