SMSF Accountant - Integrated Wealth & Accounting Practice

About the role

An established financial services practice in the Illawarra, combining accounting, business advisory and wealth management, is appointing an experienced SMSF Accountant to its dedicated superannuation division. The role is based 100% in the Wollongong office, works alongside an existing team and offers a genuine 35-hour week with flexible start and finish times.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and finalise annual financial statements, member statements and notes to accounts, and lodge SMSF Annual Returns (SAR), BAS and IAS
• Administer pension commencements and commutations, calculate minimum and maximum pension drawdowns, calculate ECPI (actuarial or segregated) and manage timely TBAR lodgements
• Account for funds with complex, non-standard asset structures in line with the SIS Act and ATO regulations
• Collate electronic audit files, manage queries with external national audit partners and resolve SIS Act contraventions
• Act as a direct point of contact for fund trustees and partner with in-house financial planners on superannuation and retirement transition strategies

Required profile

• Unrestricted, permanent Australian working rights (Australian citizen or permanent resident)
• 4+ years of dedicated SMSF compliance and accounting experience
• CA/CPA qualification or equivalent; SSA (SMSF Specialist Advisor) accreditation is highly regarded
• High-level verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to work on-site in the Wollongong office

Required skills

• Solid command of superannuation tax legislation and the SIS Act
• Ability to manage multi-layered fund structures across modern SMSF platforms

What we offer

• A competitive package of $95,000 - $110,000 base plus super, commensurate with technical depth
