Small Animal Veterinary Nurse - Emergency Critical Care

About the role

Adelaide University is recruiting a Small Animal Veterinary Nurse for its Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital, based in Roseworthy, South Australia. Full-time continuing and fixed-term positions are available, working in a 24/7 rotating roster to support continuous patient care. The role sits within the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital team in the College of Science and reports to the Veterinary Nurse Team Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing support across consultations, procedures, treatments and surgeries in the Small Animal Hospital
• Monitor patients and care, prepare for anaesthesia and imaging, and triage and stabilise emergencies
• Implement treatments and communicate with clients
• Contribute to clinical teaching and mentoring of veterinary students
• Work with veterinarians, client relations and administrative teams, and uphold hygiene, animal housing and biosecurity standards

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, with at least two years of relevant veterinary nursing experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on clinical environment and to participate in a 24/7 rotating roster
• Experience supervising and training students

Required skills

• Sound technical skills in surgery, emergency, internal medicine or general practice
• Practice management software
• Occupational health and safety and biosecurity protocols

What we offer

• Salary of $73,961 to $81,067 plus 17% superannuation
• Roster penalties, weekend rates and after-hours loadings, which can add around 30-40% above base salary depending on roster participation
