Site Manager – Tier 2 Head Contractor (Remedial/Refurbishment Projects)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead remedial and refurbishment projects for a market‑leading Tier 2 contractor operating across Defence, industrial, marine and commercial sectors in Newcastle, NSW.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct onsite HSE and quality inductions for staff and subcontractors.
• Maintain daily site diary entries and manage key project issues.
• Liaise with statutory bodies and ensure all required notifications are submitted.
• Establish and maintain site compound and amenities.
• Organise site inspections with clients, authorities and consultants.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing scopes of work.
• Interpret head and subcontractor contracts, particularly timeframes.
• Produce and manage defect lists for subcontractors prior to final handover.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising construction sites, including planning, programming and managing onsite staff/subcontractors.
• Trade or building‑related qualification.
• Construction Safety Induction (White) card and Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Australian citizenship preferred for Defence projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Sound knowledge of building‑site legislation, regulations and standards.
• Experience with projects up to $5 million in industrial, defence, marine or commercial sectors.
