Site Manager - Steel Buildings & Sheds

About the role

Asset Building designs and constructs steel buildings such as sheds, warehouses, workshops, industrial and commercial buildings and school COLAs. It is looking for a hands-on Site Manager who can take a project from bare dirt to a standing, sheeted and fitted-out building. The role is full-time and based in the Central Coast or Sydney region.

Key responsibilities

• Run the site day to day, acting as the Project Manager's eyes and ears on the ground and keeping the job on track.
• Build from start to finish: site establishment, demolition and earthworks, set-out, footings and slabs, steel erection, sheeting and final fit-out.
• Manage trades and subcontractors, keeping crews productive, coordinated and working safely.
• Book labour, cranes, EWPs, scissor lifts and other hire one to two weeks in advance, and off-hire equipment promptly.
• Flag variations and delays (e.g. wet weather, hard rock) to the office on the same day.
• Keep safety and quality paperwork in order: SWMS, ITPs, inductions, toolbox talks, weekly inspections and daily site reports.
• Keep the client informed proactively.
• Get hands dirty when needed; travel and overnight stays away from home may be required.

Required profile

• Practical experience on construction sites, including concrete and footings work, and steel frame erection or similar structural work.
• Experience leading a crew or running a site, or readiness to step into that role.
• A White Card and a Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one (some work is on school sites).
• A driver's licence.
• Calm under pressure, good eye for quality, clear communicator, organised and able to manage the budget.
• Happy to travel and flexible with schedules.

Required skills

• Highly regarded but not deal-breakers: carpentry, steel-fixing, boilermaking or other construction trade background.
• Experience with sheds, steel buildings or industrial and commercial builds.
• Dogging or rigging tickets, EWP, Working at Heights, crane or First Aid tickets, WHS/OHS risk management training.
