Site Manager

About the role

Barpa, an Indigenous‑owned construction firm, is looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations on its projects across Australia. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate trades, subcontractors and suppliers while ensuring safety, quality and programme targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all on‑site construction activities from mobilisation through to handover.
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant and materials to keep the programme on track.
• Monitor quality standards, manage defects and non‑conformances.
• Develop and maintain short‑term construction programmes aligned with the master schedule.
• Manage trade sequencing and site logistics to minimise disruption.
• Chair subcontractor and project coordination meetings.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, authorities and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and lead Site Supervisors, cadets, graduates and construction workers.
• Support Indigenous engagement and culturally safe work practices.

Required profile

• 8‑15 years of experience in commercial construction.
• Relevant tertiary qualification, trade qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven track record delivering projects safely and within programme constraints.
• Strong leadership and subcontractor management capability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify and manage construction, safety and programme risks.
• Commitment to quality outcomes and continuous improvement.
