Site Engineer – TBM Shift Engineer for Western Harbour Tunnel

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a dedicated Site Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2 project in Sydney. As a TBM Shift Engineer you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of tunnel boring machines (TBM) during rotating day/night shifts, contributing to a landmark infrastructure project.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver TBM operations in line with safety, quality, environmental and programme requirements.
• Coordinate and supervise shift activities to meet production targets.
• Provide engineering support and technical direction to supervisors, crews and subcontractors.
• Monitor TBM performance, analyse production data and resolve operational issues.
• Assist in planning and resource coordination to minimise delays.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards, procedures and permits.
• Oversee inspections, quality checks and routine maintenance to maximise TBM availability.
• Prepare and communicate accurate shift reports covering production, safety, quality and programme performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Prior experience in underground construction, preferably with TBM operations.
• Willingness to work a rotating dayshift/nightshift roster (Monday‑Friday).
• Proven ability to manage teams in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards and quality control in tunnelling.
