Site Engineer - Sunshine Coast Civil Projects

About the role

A civil contractor on the Sunshine Coast is recruiting a Site Engineer through its recruiter partner. The role sits at the frontline of delivery, working closely with experienced project teams rather than observing from the sidelines. It covers cost, planning, quality, safety and environmental requirements, and expects independent judgement and problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

• Break down drawings and support supervisors so that planned work happens on the ground
• Track progress, manage quality documentation and coordinate with subcontractors
• Check that works are delivered in line with specifications
• Contribute to planning, monitor costs and help the team hit programme and budget targets
• Identify issues and risks, raise them and help solve problems
• Share ideas and refine how work is done to improve first-time quality

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree
• Some exposure to project sites, such as through a graduate role or internship
• Ability to read drawings and understand how things come together on site
• Basic understanding of safety, quality and environmental expectations, or the right attitude to learn them quickly
• Willingness to be site-based and move where the work is (QLD / NSW projects)

Required skills

• Reading drawings
• Use of standard tools such as Excel
• Nice to have: roads, earthworks, structures or public infrastructure experience; MS Project or P6; cost tracking, variations or project reporting; commercial awareness

What we offer

• Salary of $90,000 to $130,000 depending on experience, plus vehicle allowance
• Valuable experience on a Sunshine Coast project with a growing civil contractor and a strong pipeline of work
• Other QLD and NSW civil contractor roles available if this one is not a fit
