SEO Director

About the role

Alpha Digital is looking for an SEO Director to join its senior leadership team and take ownership of an established SEO and Digital Experience (DX) department. The role covers strategy, commercial performance and operations, and connects SEO with the wider DX offering. It suits someone who knows SEO inside out, thinks commercially and wants to lead a strong team.

Key responsibilities

• Set SEO and DX strategy across major brands, from annual planning to senior client conversations and quarterly reviews
• Bring together technical SEO, content, Digital PR and organic growth
• Guide complex technical work such as migrations, site architecture, crawling, indexation, Core Web Vitals and eCom SEO
• Lead and develop the SEO/DX team, building future leaders
• Own departmental performance, client retention and growth of existing accounts
• Connect SEO with UX, CRO, data and wider agency strategy
• Drive the department forward with AI and automation, and lead on AI Search, AEO/GEO and organic discovery

Required profile

• Director level, or a strong Senior SEO Manager or Lead ready to step up
• 7+ years in SEO, ideally with agency experience and senior leadership exposure
• Technical and strategic SEO depth, including content strategy, on-page optimisation and Digital PR
• Experience with complex eCom environments, migrations and site architecture
• Ability to lead major client relationships and influence senior stakeholders
• Finger on the pulse of AI Search, AEO/GEO and organic discovery

Required skills

• Comfortable with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Semrush, Google Search Console and GA4
• Understanding of UX, CRO, analytics and the customer journey
