About the role

This senior leadership position sits within a large independent performance agency in Melbourne. You will own the end‑to‑end SEO function, shaping strategy, ensuring high‑quality delivery and developing the team to drive client growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead SEO strategy across a portfolio of clients, aligning tactics with business outcomes.
• Oversee execution of technical SEO, content optimisation and off‑page activities.
• Manage and mentor a team of SEO Managers, fostering professional development.
• Improve processes, workflows and overall output quality.
• Maintain key client relationships and contribute to account growth.
• Support new‑business pitches with SEO insight and direction.

Required profile

• Proven agency SEO experience covering both strategy and execution.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to link SEO performance to business growth.
• Confidence in client conversations and ownership of performance outcomes.
• Ability to juggle multiple clients and priorities effectively.

Required skills

• Technical SEO expertise (crawlability, indexation, site structure, Core Web Vitals).
• Proficiency with Google Search Console.
• Proficiency with Ahrefs.
• Proficiency with SEMrush.
• Proficiency with Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
