Senior Water Resources Engineer – Flooding & Drainage

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer with expertise in drainage and flood modelling to join its multidisciplinary team in Rockhampton (or Mackay/Townsville). The role involves delivering complex drainage and flood engineering solutions for major infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Technical delivery of drainage designs, stormwater management plans, and hydraulic assessments for local council and major infrastructure clients.
• Provide specialist input using software such as Civil3D, 12D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts and WBNM.
• Develop innovative solutions to complex drainage, flooding and water‑quality challenges.
• Mentor engineers, support project teams, and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders to provide trusted technical advice and contribute to work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• 5–15 years of experience in drainage/flood modelling and design.
• RPEQ registration or ability to apply for RPEQ.
• Proven experience delivering major infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required skills

• 12D, Civil3D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts, WBNM.
• QGIS or ArcGIS.
• Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
