Senior Transport Planner – Active Transport

About the role

The City of Newcastle is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to lead the planning and development of walking, cycling and micromobility networks. You will translate strategic transport objectives into practical programs, projects and funding opportunities, shaping a safer and more connected city.

Key responsibilities

• Lead feasibility assessments, business cases and technical investigations for active transport initiatives.
• Engage with stakeholders and provide trusted advice to create safe, connected and sustainable transport choices.
• Turn strategic transport objectives into practical programs, priority projects and funding opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transport planning, particularly active transport (walking, cycling, micromobility).
• Strong ability to develop and deliver feasibility studies, business cases and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Forward‑thinking mindset with a focus on safety, connectivity and sustainability.
