Senior Training Officer - Custodial Operations

About the role

Queensland Corrective Services is recruiting a Senior Training Officer for custodial operations. The role involves delivering and assessing staff in Entry Level Training and Correctional Practices competencies and assessments, engaging adult learners and supporting knowledge transfer within a correctional centre.

Required profile

• Experience in the delivery of competency-based training and assessment.
• Detailed understanding of corrections industry operations, especially those of a correctional centre.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work in a team.
• Ability to negotiate service delivery priorities, deadlines and resources.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours, travel to other locations or work temporarily from an alternate location.

Required skills

• Knowledge of adult learning principles applied in training design and delivery.
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills with trainee custodial officers.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Confident facilitation of a diverse audience of adult learners.

Candidates must hold a current Certificate III in Correctional Practice and either a current Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or a skill set, or the ability to attain one; the successful applicant must complete the Enterprise Trainer Assessor Skill Set. Applications remain valid for 12 months.
