Senior Tax Advisor

About the role

GHD is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Advisor to partner with the business and provide tax support and advice for domestic and international client projects. You will work with a high‑performing team, delivering commercial tax guidance and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business units to identify needs and deliver commercial tax advice.
• Provide tax support for international projects, assessing services and applying income‑tax treaties and legislation.
• Manage tax controversy, audits and liaise with external advisors as required.
• Oversee tax risk and governance for the Group.
• Prepare income‑tax provisions and EMEA tax returns.
• Assist with Australian and PNG indirect tax compliance (GST, FBT).
• Advise on international tax developments, law changes and emerging issues.
• Identify automation and process‑improvement opportunities and collaborate on implementation.

Required profile

• Professional tax qualification – CA/CPA equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Big 4, mid‑tier firms or large multinational corporate tax environments.
• Strong understanding of tax effect accounting and a broad range of tax topics, including international tax, withholding tax and indirect taxes.
• Proven ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex tax concepts into clear, commercial terms.
