Senior Tax Accountant (Remote)

About the role

A remote Senior Tax Accountant is sought to join a dynamic accounting team. The role suits someone with strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to client service. It calls for years of senior-level tax accounting experience in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual, company, trust and partnership tax returns.
• Manage and review BAS, IAS, FBT and GST lodgments.
• Provide expert tax advice and planning strategies for clients across various industries.
• Manage and process ATO and ASIC correspondence.
• Liaise professionally with clients and external stakeholders such as the ATO and auditors.
• Manage a portfolio of clients, delivering services on time and accurately.
• Conduct tax research and stay up to date on tax law changes.
• Use Xero and MYOB for accounting entries, reconciliations and report generation.
• Prepare year-end financial statements.
• Contribute to process improvement and workflow optimisation within the tax team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA or CA qualification, or working towards it.
• Years of senior-level tax accounting experience in Australia.
• Strong understanding of Australian taxation laws and compliance requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, high attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, working both independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero and MYOB accounting software.
• Tax return preparation and BAS, IAS, FBT and GST lodgment management.
