Senior Systems Administrator - ICT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity

About the role

A growing Australian Defence industry organisation with about 45 people is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator (L1 to L4) in Port Melbourne, Victoria. As the sole systems administrator, you will own infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud and cybersecurity operations and support a team of software engineers, technicians, technical authors, analysts and team leaders. The role is permanent and full-time, hybrid with three days onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Own infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud and cybersecurity operations
• Strengthen Essential Eight ML2 maturity and support ISM compliance across the organisation
• Drive improvements, implement security initiatives and act as the go-to person for infrastructure and security operations

Required profile

• 5+ years in systems administration or infrastructure engineering
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure and cloud experience
• Practical cybersecurity and Essential Eight knowledge
• Australian citizenship is mandatory; PR or other visas are not eligible due to defence security clearance requirements

• Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint
• Intune, Autopilot, Defender, Sentinel and Purview
• Hyper-V, SQL Server, backup and disaster recovery
• PowerShell scripting and automation
• System hardening, vulnerability management, networking, firewalls, VPNs and endpoint management
