Senior System Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a senior infrastructure professional to join our ICT team in Melbourne’s CBD. Reporting to the Hosting Services Team Lead, you will own the reliability, security and performance of our production and corporate technology platforms while working closely with security, networking and data engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Linux environments on‑premises and in Azure.
• Manage Azure services including Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault, networking and governance.
• Support Hyper‑V and VMware virtualisation, SAN storage, virtual networking, replication and disaster recovery across dual data centres.
• Maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases – backup, recovery, patching and performance tuning.
• Oversee Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Defender and Purview.
• Collaborate with networking teams on LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing and cloud networking.
• Operate endpoint security and identity threat detection platforms, supporting incident response.
• Lead backup, resilience and disaster‑recovery activities to meet RPO/RTO targets.
• Drive automation with PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI/Bicep and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Maintain monitoring, logging, observability and SIEM integrations.

Required profile

• Significant senior‑level experience administering production Windows Server and Linux at scale.
• Hands‑on Azure administration, including identity and governance.
• Strong background with Hyper‑V and/or VMware vSphere in multi‑site deployments.
• Operational experience with Microsoft SQL Server; familiarity with Oracle database administration.
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• Experience with EDR platforms and identity threat detection tools.
