About the role

The Senior Summary Prosecutor provides high‑quality legal advice and courtroom representation for summary matters in the Northern Territory. This senior litigation role involves handling less complex prosecutions, appeals and related matters across NT courts and the High Court of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality legal advice on summary matters in the Local Court of the Northern Territory.
• Represent the prosecution in the Local Court, other NT courts and the High Court of Australia for less complex prosecutions, appeals and related matters.
• Manage litigation files, prepare briefs, and liaise with police and other agencies.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and procedural requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified legal practitioner with extensive experience as an advocate.
• Demonstrated ability to handle summary prosecutions and appeals.
• Strong understanding of NT and Australian criminal law.
• Professional level 3 or equivalent seniority.
