Senior Subcontracts Specialist - MQ28 Campaigns and Sustainment

About the role

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking two Senior Subcontracts Specialists in Brisbane: one for the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Campaigns (supply chain) and one for Sustainment / Phantom Works Australia. The MQ-28 program develops and produces the uncrewed collaborative combat aircraft, and its supply chain manages supplier commercial support, including contracts, the supplier pipeline and warehousing. You will manage and administer high-value contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance and managing supplier relationships, with responsibilities including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and post-award administration.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and manage commercial agreements including NDAs, development, manufacturing and support services contracts and contract variations.
• Advise project managers and other stakeholders on subcontracting activities for the program of work.
• Liaise with Legal, Functional, Engineering and Commercial stakeholders.
• Develop procurement strategies and priorities and lead their delivery.
• Run complex market approaches (RFx), evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate supplier deviations and recommend final supplier selection.
• Monitor and report subcontract cost, schedule and status, recommending corrective action.
• Take part in process improvement and value-for-money initiatives.
• Ensure supplier activities comply with export-import trade control requirements, with support from Global Trade Control specialists.

Required profile

• Minimum 5-8 years' experience in supplier management and/or sourcing, with exposure to procurement contract terms and conditions (highly desirable).
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management.
• Experience in the Defence industry is desirable.
• Tertiary education in Commerce, Law or Business or relevant experience (highly desirable).
• Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements.

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract law (highly desirable).
• High-level written and oral communication and standard business tools and systems.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and independently to completion.
