Senior Structural Engineer – Ports and Maritime

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of ports and maritime projects in Perth and across Australia. You will work on high‑impact, technically complex infrastructure that supports coastal and maritime operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical designs and perform structural analyses for maritime and port structures.
• Contribute to project planning, coordination and delivery, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain quality and client satisfaction.
• Support commercial outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in marine and/or structural engineering design.
• Degree in Civil, Structural or Maritime Engineering.
• Experience with port and maritime structures and asset management.
• Strong project delivery, communication and report‑writing abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Space GASS.
• Proficiency in STAAD.
• Proficiency in STRAND (or equivalent).
• Experience with mooring analysis tools such as Optimoor.
