Senior Specialist - Operational Risk and Compliance

About the role

Telstra Enterprise serves government and large corporate customers with industry-based services and solutions, combining Australian connectivity infrastructure with technology solutions. This permanent Senior Specialist position supports the Responsible Business and Governance team in implementing compliance and operational risk management controls that align with Telstra's strategy and growth goals. The role helps identify and manage regulatory obligations, operational risks and compliance, and supports management in managing risks effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise and technical advice to Functional Compliance Leads, Risk Management teams and executives on compliance matters, ensuring teams are informed and trained when new legislation or policies come into effect.
• Assess and resolve potential issues or breaches and report outcomes to management and the Chief Risk Office.
• Help establish and uphold organisational compliance standards, preparing and coordinating operational risk management training and manuals.
• Gather information on stakeholder needs and manage team procedures, workflows and accountabilities while meeting compliance documentation standards.
• Manage adherence to the risk management framework and group policies, test controls as required and ensure ongoing auditing and reporting.
• Research regulatory bulletins and other sources to stay up to date with regulations and rules.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build insights on risk and compliance issues, support decision-making and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of Telstra's risk management program and compliance obligations.
• Proven experience working with management to implement risk and compliance management.
• Ability to give pragmatic risk and compliance advice for effective implementation.
• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Passion for doing the right thing.

The role is flexible, though onsite consultation with the team may be required from time to time. Closing date: 4 November 2026.
